Indians designate right-hander Scott Atchison for assignment; recall Austin Adams

CLEVELAND — Right-hander Scott Atchison has been designated for assignment by the Cleveland Indians.

The 39-year-old was 1-1 with a 6.86 ERA in 23 relief appearances, allowing 15 runs and 23 hits — including six homers — in 19 2-3 innings. Atchison was 6-0 with a 2.75 ERA in 70 appearances last season.

Right-hander Austin Adams was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday. He has a 2.38 ERA and one save in seven games and 11 1-3 innings with the Indians this season.
