ALEXANDRIA, Louisiana — Louisiana State University of Alexandria and Bolton High School are working together to offer more dual enrollment college courses to high school students.

The Town Talk (http://townta.lk/201Tiei ) reports the program will begin next semester and is designed to allow qualified students to take college courses at a cheaper rate.

All public Rapides Parish high schools already offer dual enrollment courses. Under the under the new program, full-time and adjunct Louisiana State University of Alexandria faculty will come to Bolton's campus to teach at least two courses each semester.

Officials from the schools announced the program Monday during an informational event for students and parents.

Deputy assistant superintendent for Rapides schools Kim Bennett says the program will allow students to get acclimated to the rigor of college.
