NEW BRUNSWICK, New Jersey — A central New Jersey man convicted of sexually assaulting a young girl for several years is now headed to state prison.

Middlesex County prosecutors say 49-year-old Sergio Bognar, of Sayreville, received a 17-year term when he was sentenced Tuesday. He also will have to register as a sex offender and will be on lifetime parole supervision.

Bognar was convicted on numerous counts last October, including aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment. Prosecutors say the assaults occurred at two locations in Sayreville over a seven-year period, beginning in 2004 when the girl was 10 years old.
