CHARLESTON, West Virginia — Several cities in West Virginia have set record lows for this date.

Friday's record cold follows a storm that dumped up to 10 inches of snow on parts of the state Monday.

As if this week wasn't tough enough, the National Weather Service says up to 8 additional inches of snow is possible along with a thin coating of ice in parts of West Virginia on Friday night and Saturday. The warning area stretches from Huntington to Elkins and places further south.

Schoolchildren across much of West Virginia have received the entire week off from classes.
