HARTFORD, Connecticut — About a dozen families are homeless and at least three firefighters are recovering from minor injuries suffered battling an overnight fire in Hartford.
Firefighters say the blaze broke out at about 11 p.m. on Monday in a building on Park Street that housed several businesses on the street level and apartments above.
It took firefighters about six hours to bring the fire under control. Officials say firefighters worked from the outside of the building after part of the roof collapsed.
Authorities say they believe the fire started on the first floor.
They say one firefighter suffered a cut to his hand, and others were treated for heat exhaustion. Roads in the area remained closed through the Tuesday morning rush hour.
