PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — Rhode Island State Police say there have been around 90 crashes amid a winter storm that has brought icy conditions to the state's roadways.
A flood watch is in effect through late Tuesday in Rhode Island and surrounding areas of Massachusetts and Connecticut.
The National Weather Service says rainfall is expected to total around 1.5 to 2 inches, although some localized areas could see up to 4 inches.
It says the worst of the rain is expected to coincide with the afternoon and evening commute, which could make driving difficult.
Newport and Washington counties are under a wind advisory, with wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour and isolated gusts of 50 miles per hour. The weather service says that could down tree limbs, causing power outages.
