LONDON — Neymar and Bayern Munich returned to the top of the Associated Press Global Football 10 on Tuesday.
Neymar was player of the week after scoring twice in both of Barcelona's 3-0 victories, against BATE Borisov in the Champions League and Villarreal in the Spanish league, a result which moved his team to the top of the standings and meant the absence of the injured Lionel Messi was not felt by his team.
"No Messi, no problem - especially when you have Neymar," Umaid Wasim of Dawn Newspaper in Pakistan said. "Four goals over the week by the Brazilian, whose second goal against Villarreal was a piece of pure magic."
Bayern striker Thomas Mueller equaled Neymar's feat but was second behind the Brazilian. Mueller scored two against both Arsenal in the Champions League and Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.
Alexandre Lacazette was third after scoring a hat trick as Lyon beat Saint-Etienne 3-0 in the French league.
"Lacazette picked the perfect game to rediscover last season's prolific form," France-based Jonathan Johnson of beIN Sports USA said. "The France international scored all three goals as Lyon beat Rhone-Alpes rivals Saint-Etienne 3-0 in the last ever derby at Stade Gerland."
Leicester striker Jamie Vardy is fourth, for scoring in his ninth straight Premier League match as his team beat Watford 2-1, while Dani Parejo is fifth after scoring twice in Valencia's 5-1 victory against Celta Vigo.
Salomon Kalou, Edin Dzeko, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Luis Suarez and Inaki William complete the top 10 players of the week.
In the team poll, Bayern took leading honors for thrashing Arsenal 5-1 in the Champions League and beating Stuttgart 4-0 in the Bundesliga.
"Bayern Munich is superior in the Bundesliga (and) brilliant in the Champions League," Francois Colin of De Standaard in Belgium said. "The best team in Europe at this moment."
Barcelona is second while Sevilla is third after beating Real Madrid 3-2, a result that helped Barcelona move top of the Spanish standings.
Borussia Dortmund is fourth after a 3-2 victory against Schalke followed a 4-0 win over FK Qabala in the Europa League, a result which sealed a place in the knockout stages of the competition.
Roma defeated fierce rival Lazio 2-0 in Serie A on Sunday and is fifth.
Fiorentina, Paris Saint-Germain, Leicester, Stoke and Crystal Palace round out the top 10 teams of the week.
