EUGENE, Oregon — A federal judge in Eugene has sentenced a man who recruited two minors to work for him as prostitutes to 12 years in prison.

Prosecutors say 21-year-old Steven Kidd of Albany subjected one girl to physical abuse and took her to Corvallis, Eugene, Harrisburg, Medford and Portland to have sex with customers solicited through ads. He also took her to cities in Washington state.

He drove the other girl to Corvallis for sex acts with customers.

U.S. Attorney Amanda Marshall says the case is a prime example of how pimps use violence and control to manipulate victims into a life of terror.

Kidd will be on supervised release for five years after he gets out of prison.
