WEIR, Texas — A man wanted for the fatal shooting of two people and wounding three others in Central Texas on Thanksgiving night has been arrested.
Williamson County Sheriff's spokesman Fred Thomas says 24-year-old Jose Hernandez Benitez was arrested Friday in Caldwell County, about 50 miles from the shooting scene in Weir.
Benitez is being held in the Williamson County Jail on murder charges for the slayings of Yazmin Corona and Omar Ruiz.
Authorities say Benitez had sent text messages wanting to date Corona and became angry at a party they all were attending when she and Ruiz began making fun of him. Benitez and Ruiz worked together at a Cedar Park restaurant.
Authorities tell the Austin American-Statesman (http://bit.ly/1uWsMNy ) wounds to the three others who were shot are not life threatening.
