MEXICO CITY — A diving header from Omar Bravo salvaged a point for relegation-threatened Chivas on Sunday, as the historic Guadalajara team drew 1-1 with Leones Negros.
Defending champion America continued its poor form with a 0-0 home draw against Puebla and has only four points after three rounds of matches in Mexico's first division Clausura season.
In other matches this weekend, Santos Laguna thrashed Monterrey 4-1, Tijuana beat Tigres 2-1, Chiapas defeated Atlas 3-1, Morelia drew 0-0 with Leon, Pachuca overcame Queretaro 2-1, Veracruz tied 0-0 with Cruz Azul, and Pumas won 3-2 against Toluca.
Fidel Martinez opened for Leones Negros with a left foot strike two minutes into the second half, but Omar Bravo equalized in the 84th.
America dominated possession and had more shots on target than Puebla, but failed to score for the second game running.
Vicente Vuoso headed in a goal for Chiapas in the 53rd. Andres Hurtado scored from a back-flick ten minutes later and netted a gentle chip to make it three. Martin Barragan struck a powerful shot for Atlas in the 80th but it was too late to be anything more than a consolation.
