GAINESVILLE, Georgia — Federal prosecutors say a Barrow County man has been sentenced on child pornography charges.
Authorities said Thursday that 36-year-old Jonathan Lee Whitmire of Auburn was sentenced to 20 years in prison for distributing child pornography.
Prosecutors say Whitmire was found during an investigation into a Cheyenne, Wyoming man trading child pornography photos over the Internet. Authorities say Whitmire was identified as one of the traders and searches of his email accounts showed that he used several email accounts to trade a large number of child pornography photos with others.
Whitmire is ordered to serve 20 years of supervised release after his sentence and pay a $3,000 fine.
