Springdale Har-Ber, Pine Bluff tied atop Arkansas AP poll but cannot settle matter on field


LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — Springdale Har-Ber and Pine Bluff finished the regular season tied atop the Arkansas Associated Press high school football poll, but cannot settle any dispute during the playoffs, which start this week. Har-Ber is in Class 7A and Pine Bluff is in Class 6A.

Cabot in Class 7A is third in this week's poll, followed by Pulaski Academy from Class 5A. The Bruins moved up after Fayetteville lost to Bentonville on Friday.

Bentonville is fifth, followed by Greenwood, then Fayetteville. Bryant, Little Rock Christian and Benton round out the top 10 in the overall poll.

Pine Bluff and Greenwood were listed 1-2 on each Class 6A ballot and are followed by Benton, Jonesboro and Searcy.

In Class 5A, PA is followed by local rival Little Rock Christian, Little Rock McClellan, Hope and Blytheville.

Dardanelle and Nashville split the top two spots in the Class 4A poll. Dardanelle leads, Pocahontas is third, Warren is fourth and Prairie Grove is fifth.

Smackover leads Class 3A and is followed by Prescott, Harding Academy, Glen Rose and Greenland.

In Class 2A, Rison leads and is followed by McCrory, England, Junction City and Mount Ida.
