JOHNSTOWN, Pennsylvania — A man has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in a shooting death at a western Pennsylvania apartment complex that authorities alleged occurred during a dispute over $20.

Twenty-eight-year-old Lemmel Myers also pleaded guilty to a related drug count Friday in Cambria County Court. Additional drug and weapons charges were dropped under a plea agreement.

Authorities said Myers shot Leslie Schetrompf in the leg in a Johnstown apartment in July 2013, and the wound proved fatal.

Prosecutors said, however, that surveillance video showed that Schetrompf arrived carrying a machete and threatened the defendant's life.

Defense attorney Daniel Kiss told The (Johnstown) Tribune-Democrat that his client took full responsibility for the death. He said Myers believed he acted in self-defense but "ultimately agreed that was unreasonable, given the circumstances at the time."
