CHEYENNE, Wyoming — Sen. Mike Enzi says he's seeking public support for his so-called "Penny Plan" to reduce the deficit.

Enzi is running for a fourth term and is facing four challengers in the Republican primary Aug. 19.

Enzi introduced his One Percent Spending Reduction Act of 2014 in June. The bill would cut 1 percent from total federal spending over each of three years.

Enzi says the plan would balance the budget by 2017 and over 10 years would cut spending by some $7.6 trillion compared to current projections.

Enzi campaign spokeswoman Kristin Walker said Monday Enzi wants Wyoming residents to go to the website http://www.pennyplansolution.com and sign up to support the measure.

She says people who sign up will get updates on the bill's progress.
