ANSTED, West Virginia — The aerial tram at Hawks Nest State Park has reopened.
Extensive repairs and upgrades had idled the tram for most of the 2015 season. The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources says new electrical components were necessary to keep the attraction operating at 21st century level.
For nearly five decades, the tram has given visitors a lift into the New River Gorge and a return lift to the top.
The park's tram and jetboat rides on the New River operate daily except Wednesday through Labor Day.
