BABYLON, New York — Authorities say a kayaker has been rescued from the water off southern Long Island.

The Coast Guard says the kayaker, who was not wearing a lifejacket, reported being in the water about 45 minutes before he was found near Fire Island Inlet on Sunday. No injuries were reported.

Suffolk County marine and air rescue crews participated in the search along with the Coast Guard.
