WARRIOR, Alabama — Authorities say an Alabama police officer and two suspects were wounded in a shooting north of Birmingham.
State troopers say a Warrior police officer was shot Monday afternoon at an exit on Interstate 65 but escaped serious injury because of a protective vest. Warrior Police Chief Raymond Horn says the officer will be OK.
Two suspects also were shot, but their conditions weren't immediately available.
Trooper Chuck Daniel spokesman says the officer and the two suspects were all taken to a hospital in Birmingham.
Authorities haven't said what prompted the gunfire. Daniel says officers are trying to determine what led to the shooting.
