NEW YORK — Police say a motorcyclist is dead after he was thrown from his bike and hit by a car on the Grand Central Parkway in Queens.

The accident happened shortly before midnight Friday near 166th Street.

Police say 32-year-old Adelso Espinal, of Freeport, hit a bump in the road and fell off his motorcycle.

They say the driver of a Honda swerved to avoid Espinal but could not.

Espinal was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The driver of the car was not injured. The investigation is ongoing.
