ELLETTSVILLE, Indiana — Some 5,000 bicyclists are expected on southern Indiana roads this weekend for the 47th annual Hilly Hundred.

The ride isn't a race, but a tour through rural areas of Monroe, Morgan and Owen counties. On Saturday, a nearly 56-mile route will take cyclists through the towns of Whitehall, Spencer and Stinesville. Sunday's 43-mile route will pass through Morgan-Monroe State Forest north of Bloomington.

Hilly Hundred director Nancy Tibbett tells The Herald-Times (http://bit.ly/1vQORAJ ) the route is similar to last year's and that if riders aren't going up a hill, they're going down one.

Musical acts will be performing for riders at each rest stop, as well as during lunch breaks.

The rides begin and end each day at Edgewood High School in Ellettsville.
