Portland man faces up to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to 2 armed bank robberies

PORTLAND, Maine — Prosecutors say a 59-year-old Portland man pleaded guilty in federal court to an armed bank robbery charge stemming from a pair of October heists.

Francis J. Ready faces up to 25 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The charges against him stem from armed bank robberies of Portland banks on Oct. 3 and Oct. 12. Prosecutors say he used a firearm to rob the banks and left with more than $17,000 between the two robberies.

Police say they arrested Ready in a parking area after the second robbery. He was charged with using a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence in addition to the bank robbery charges.
