COVINGTON, Louisiana — A Covington man was convicted of raping and sexually abusing a young girl and the woman who introduced them will face trial next month.

Multiple news sources report 29-year-old Robert Flowers was found guilty of two counts of aggravated rape and three counts of sexual battery Wednesday. Flowers, who will be sentenced July 7, faces a mandatory life sentence on the aggravated rape charges and another 25 to 99 years on the sexual battery charges.

The girl, who is now 14, testified she was sexually abused by Flowers and Sandra Gaines, who introduced the two when she was 5. The girl says Flowers and Gaines repeatedly abused her until 2012.
