PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — Gas prices in Rhode Island are continuing their steep drop, falling 11 cents per gallon in the past week.

A weekly survey by AAA Southern New England released Monday finds that the average price of a gallon of regular was down to $2.75.

That's 76 cents less than at this time last year. Prices in Rhode Island a year ago were 27 percent higher.

Prices have been on a downward trend since the summer, and data from the state energy office shows the price of gas have not been so low in Rhode Island since 2010.

AAA says the price of gas in Rhode Island is still 20 cents higher than the national average of $2.55 per gallon.
