Damien Bamgart's 2 TD passes in 4th quarter key Humphrey SF in 22-20 win over Renegades in D2


LINCOLN, Nebraska — Damien Bamgart threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter to lead No. 5 Humphrey St. Francis to a 22-20 come-from-behind victory over No. 2 Chambers/Wheeler Central in the Class D2 championship game at Memorial Stadium on Monday.

Brenden Pelster and Nick Haburchak ran for touchdowns to put the Renegades up 20-6 in the middle of the third quarter.

The Flyers (12-1) started their rally after CWC (12-1) turned over the ball on downs at the St. Francis 17. Bamgart led the Flyers 62 yards in seven plays, passing 18 yards to Kyle Wemhoff for a touchdown and to Carson Weidner for the 2-point conversion.

After forcing a punt, the Flyers went 55 yards in 14 plays for the go-ahead score on Bamgart's 5-yard pass to Weidner.

Wemhoff ran 35 times for 120 yards and Bamgart 18 times for 92 and completed 6 of 9 passes for 87 yards. Brenden Pelster ran for 62 yards and two TDs and completed 13 of 26 passes for 146 yards.
