EDGEWATER, New Jersey — Low tide hindered efforts to fight a fire on a pedestrian pier along the Hudson River in Edgewater.

The fire broke out early Wednesday.

The tide was too low for fire boats to get close to put water on the structure, so firefighters had to battle the flames from land.

There are no reports of injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
