CORALVILLE, Iowa — Authorities say an Iowa prison inmate has died while incarcerated.

The Iowa Department of Corrections says Earl Leroy Kirklin died Monday at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville. He was 56 years old.

Prison officials say Kirklin died of natural causes due to complications from liver cancer. Kirklin was serving a 10-year sentence for first-degree theft in Linn County. He began serving his sentence on June 13, 2011.
