BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — A man was found stabbed to death in his Birmingham home, marking the city's 9th killing in the past seven days, authorities said.
A family member went to the man's home in the Titusville area and saw through a window that it was in disarray, Birmingham police Lt. Sean Edwards said in a statement. Police then went to check on the man and found him on the floor with what appeared to be stab wounds to his chest.
There were no immediate arrests in the case, Al.com reported (http://bit.ly/1uowMcO ).
The slaying is the latest in a spate of violence in Birmingham that began Aug. 29, with the discovery of a stabbing victim and the shooting of a man during a robbery attempt as he walked through a park with his wife.
Others killed in the past week include two men shot in a gun battle outside a motorcycle club; and a 71-year-old woman stabbed during a break-in at her home.
The man found Thursday is the city's 38th victim this year.
