Sprint reports second-quarter loss, misses expectations


OVERLAND PARK, Kansas — Sprint Corp. (S) on Tuesday reported a loss of $585 million in its fiscal second quarter.

The Overland Park, Kansas-based company said it had a loss of 15 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for asset impairment costs, came to 13 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 12 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 9 cents per share.

The wireless carrier posted revenue of $7.98 billion in the period, also falling short of Street forecasts. Eight analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $8.17 billion.

The company's shares closed at $4.85. A year ago, they were trading at $5.93.
