ORLANDO, Florida — A deputy administrator for the Department of Labor is set to address the topic of universal wage equality at the National Federation of the Blind national convention.

Laura Fortman is speaking Saturday on the topic of advancing equal rights and protections for workers with disabilities. Some employers are currently able to obtain a certificate that allows them to pay minimum wages less than the federal minimum wage to workers that have disabilities.

The convention concludes Sunday.

Fortman also will discuss President Barack Obama's executive order to increase the minimum wage for federal contractors to $10.10 an hour beginning in 2015 for all workers employed on new federal service, concession and construction contracts.
