BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — A 33-year-old Baton Rouge woman accused in 2012 of stealing a bicycle from a man she shot, riding several blocks and fatally shooting another man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and attempted murder charges. In return, Tameka Johnson received a 28-year prison term.
The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/1KTmv3X) Johnson faced an automatic sentence of life in prison if convicted this week of second-degree murder in the Feb. 16, 2012, killing of 55-year-old Tyrone Clark. He was shot in the head.
Johnson also pleaded guilty Tuesday before state District Judge Chip Moore to attempted second-degree murder in the wounding of a 51-year-old man from whom she stole a bike.
Police say the woman and the two men had argued earlier in the day.
