ASHEBORO, North Carolina — A former employee with the city of Archdale has pleaded guilty to embezzlement charges.

The Courier-Tribune of Asheboro reported (http://bit.ly/1zRmqbW) that 36-year-old April Lynn Campbell of Trinity pleaded guilty to four counts of embezzlement Thursday.

The former operations manager for the city was sentenced to nearly six months in jail, followed by five years of supervised probation. She also was ordered to pay nearly $29,000 in restitution to the city.

Campbell was arrested in September 2013 and accused of taking about $200,000 from the city between 2010 and 2013.

Assistant District Attorney Ray Warburton said Campbell had a city credit card and was taking money for personal expenses, including a vacation to Walt Disney World and payments on a truck.

Campbell had worked for Archdale since 1999.
