GLENDALE, Arizona — Authorities have arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of his roommate in Glendale.

Glendale police say 22-year-old Justice Wolfgang Burkhart was being booked into the downtown Phoenix jail Wednesday afternoon on suspicion of first-degree murder.

He doesn't have an attorney yet.

Glendale police received a 911 call of a shooting at a condominium about 8:45 a.m. and found 25-year-old John Mengel with a gunshot wound.

Police say Mengel was declared dead at the scene by Glendale Fire Department paramedics.

Witnesses say Burkhart fled on foot before officers arrived but later was driven back to the scene by a friend.

Police say Burkhart told investigators that Mengel had recently moved out of the condo. But Mengel returned for some belongings and an argument ensued that allegedly led to the shooting.
