GLASGOW, Scotland — Celtic got its season back on track with a 2-1 win over Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.
The champions went into the match without a win in four games, having been knocked out in the Champions League playoff round.
After defender Jason Denayer gave Celtic the lead in the seventh minute with a fortuitous goal, and forward Kris Commons made it two with a deflected shot at the start of the second half, it looked like the hosts would cruise to victory.
However, Aberdeen striker David Goodwillie reduced the deficit just after the hour mark to make it a nervy ending. Aberdeen claimed it should have had a penalty when Niall McGinn's free kick appeared to be handled by Commons inside the box.
