BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — Police have arrested a 26-year-old Baton Rouge man accused of fatally shooting an 18-year-old woman and critically injuring her stepfather.
Cpl. L'Jean McKneely, a Baton Rouge police spokesman, says the suspected shooter, Quintin Thomas, was arrested Monday in Lafayette and brought to the East Baton Rouge Parish on Tuesday.
McKneely tells The Advocate (http://bit.ly/1bsFDFV ) Thomas was booked with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon in the shooting that left Idalis Smith dead and the other man injured.
McKneely says Victoria Guillory, identified by police as Thomas' girlfriend, faces a charge of accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.
He says police have yet to establish a motive for the killing.
Jail officials couldn't provide the name of a defense attorney to comment on the charges.
