FRANKFORT, Kentucky — Democrat Andy Beshear has filed declaration papers to run for Kentucky attorney general.

The Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/1z7zchv ) reports Beshear, his wife, Britainy, and their children, Will and Lila, were accompanied by his parents, Gov. Steve Beshear and first lady Jane Beshear, when he filed on Friday.

Andy Beshear entered the race last November and reported in July that he has raised more than $1.26 million for his campaign.

No other candidates have filed to run for the office currently held by Democrat Jack Conway. Conway is in his second term and can't seek re-election because of a two-term limit. He is running for governor next year.

Filing for statewide offices began Nov. 5. The deadline to file is 4 p.m. Jan. 27.
