ORLANDO, Florida — Authorities say one man is dead after firing at sheriff's deputies in an Orlando grocery store parking lot.
Orange County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Jane Watrel says the man ambushed deputies arriving at the parking lot Sunday evening. The deputies were responding to a call about a violation of a domestic violence injunction.
Watrel says the deputies returned fire, killing the 46-year-old suspect. The man's name hasn't been released.
One deputy was treated at a hospital for a gunshot wound to the leg. Another was suffered minor facial injuries from broken glass.
Sheriff Jerry Demings tells the Orlando Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1CKRl9X ) that the suspect's ex-girlfriend notified authorities after he asked her to meet in the parking lot. Demings says the man warned her that he would shoot any police who showed up.
