PROVO, Utah — A child abuse homicide charge has been dropped against a Provo mother in the death of her 3-month-old baby boy two years ago.

Court documents show 30-year-old Brianna Brown pleaded guilty to felony child endangerment this week. She's scheduled for sentencing on Nov. 18.

Her 31-year-old boyfriend, Joshua Jay Harding, still faces a homicide charge in the case.

Police say they responded to a medical call Nov. 27, 2012, and found baby Paxton Stokes wasn't breathing. He was later pronounced dead of head trauma.

Authorities say the boy had internal bleeding, bruises, and a fractured leg that had healed.

Brown denied she abused the boy or permitted any abuse.

Harding told detectives he'd left the boy to cry himself to sleep but returned later and found Paxton unresponsive.
