FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas — Defending Class 7A state champion Bentonville has turned its season around following a difficult start to the year against out-of-state competition.
The Tigers (7-4) will face possibly their toughest in-state obstacle in their quest for back-to-back titles when they travel to North Little Rock on Friday night.
Bentonville's only loss to an Arkansas team this season is a 10-7 setback against fellow playoff semifinalist Fort Smith Southside on Sept. 26. Led by junior quarterback Kasey Ford, the Tigers have won seven straight since then — with sights set on extending the West's championship streak to 10 years.
The Charging Wildcats (10-1), led by Arkansas commitment KJ Hill, have won nine straight games. Their only loss this season is to West member Fayetteville 43-33 in the second week of the season.
