WATERTOWN, New York — A 33-year-old northern New York woman has been convicted of stabbing her boyfriend to death.
A Jefferson County Court jury found Breanna Simpson guilty of manslaughter but acquitted her of the more serious charge of second-degree murder on Thursday.
Authorities said Simpson stabbed 34-year-old Henry J. Perkins Jr. with a kitchen knife during an argument in their Watertown apartment in June 2013.
Perkins had survived being stabbed by Simpson the previous year when she cut his back with a kitchen knife, also during an argument. Simpson pleaded guilty to an assault charge and was sentenced to three years' probation and community service.
Simpson faces anywhere from five to 25 years in prison. Sentencing is set for May 29.
