PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — Gas prices in Rhode Island have fallen 8 cents per gallon in the past week, to an average $2.47 for regular.

AAA Northeast says its weekly survey released Monday found gas prices had fallen below $2.50 per gallon for the first time since April.

It says the average price of a gallon of gas in Rhode Island is 13 cents below the national average of $2.60 per gallon.

A year ago at this time, gas cost $3.52 in Rhode Island on average, or $1.05 more. That's 43 percent more than this year.
