GAINESVILLE, Florida — Florida will be without backup linebacker Jeremi Powell for at least three games following knee surgery.

Coach Will Muschamp says Powell had arthroscopic knee surgery Wednesday to repair torn meniscus. Muschamp adds that the sophomore from Largo should be back following the team's first of two open weeks. That means Powell will miss games against Eastern Michigan, Kentucky and Alabama.

Powell played seven games last season before tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in a knee against Missouri. He recorded four special teams tackles.

Muschamp says his latest knee injury has nothing to do with last year's torn ACL.

Muschamp calls defensive back Marcus Maye (hamstring) doubtful for Saturday's game against Eastern Michigan.

The coach says, "There's little more of a strain than we had thought. But everybody else is ready to go."
