MIDDLETOWN, Rhode Island — Officials say a pilot escaped without injuries when his small plane ran off the end of the runway and overturned at Newport State Airport.
Fire officials said the single-engine plane's nosewheel dug into the grass and there was damage to its landing gear, propeller and roof.
The pilot was able to climb out of the plane.
No fuel was spilled in the accident that happened just before noon.
State police and aviation officials are investigating.
