GRIER, Alabama — Authorities say a 61-year-old man is dead after his vehicle veered off a highway and overturned in Sumter County.

The Tuscaloosa News reports ( ) the victim in the single-car crash was identified as Charlie Harris of Gainesville. The Alabama Highway Patrol said Harris died Friday afternoon when his 2004 Jeep Cherokee left the road on Alabama Highway 17 and flipped over. Troopers said Harris was not wearing a seat belt.

The crash occurred about three miles north of Grier. The Highway Patrol said troopers are still investigating to determine the cause.
