FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida — A serial bank robber has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for armed heists he committed in Florida and Michigan.

South Florida prosecutors say 28-year-old Jeffrey Ross robbed five banks in Broward County between October 2012 and February 2013. In each robbery, he displayed a gun and managed to steal a total of $9,646.

After the last Florida robbery, authorities say Ross went to Michigan where he robbed another bank of $4,350 in July 2013. In this robbery, he ordered bank employees into a vault at gunpoint but was caught hiding in nearby bushes.

Ross pleaded guilty to the charges in both Michigan and Florida and will serve a combined 25 years for the robberies.
