TEMPE, Arizona — A man is facing felony charges after he allegedly fled the scene of a fatal hit-and-run in Tempe.

Tempe police Lt. Jeffrey Glover says Jon Alguire was crossing the street mid-block near Apache Boulevard and McClintock Drive on Friday around 9 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle.

Alguire was taken to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Glover says the driver, 29-year-old Justin Michael Gordecki, abandoned his Ford pickup truck and left the scene.

Police later made contact with Gordecki at a nearby apartment, where he admitted to his involvement in the incident.

Gordecki faces one count each of driving under the influence, felony hit-and-run vehicle collision and false reporting to police.
