VERMILLION, South Dakota — Brody Grantham ran for three touchdowns and threw for another as Hamlin beat Faulkton Area 34-8 for the state 9B football title on Friday.

Grantham ran 25 times for 173 yards and scored on runs of 5, 2 and 68 yards for Hamlin (12-0), which won its first Class B title. The Chargers won for 11-man titles in the 1990s.

Grantham tossed an 18-yard TD pass to Ryder Grantham and Austin Niemann returned an interception 55 yards for a score.

Jack Aesoph scored on a 7-yard run for the Trojans (10-2).

Darin Wieseler led the Trojans with 72 rushing. Kurt Beidler completed 9 of 16 passes for 82 yards.

Hamlin rushed for 253 of its 294 total yards, while Faulkton gained 139 yards on the ground.
