GUTHRIE, Oklahoma — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a trooper shot and wounded a man in downtown Guthrie following a traffic stop.

Capt. Paul Timmons told reporters that the trooper, identified as Caleb Swickey, made the stop about 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Timmons says the suspect, 18-year-old Kenneth Brown, was shot after fighting with the trooper. Timmons says Brown was taken to the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he was listed in stable condition.

Swickey has been with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol for seven years. Timmons says he was on patrol when the traffic stop was made, but the reason for the stop was not disclosed.
