STILLWATER, Oklahoma — Two small earthquakes have been recorded in north-central Oklahoma by the U.S. Geological Survey.
The U.S.G.S. reports a 3.5 magnitude quake was recorded at 11:21 a.m. Sunday six miles southwest of Stillwater in Payne County — about 45 miles north of Oklahoma City. A magnitude 3.1 quake was recorded at 8:53 a.m. 12 miles west of Perry in Noble County — 55 miles north of Oklahoma City.
Sheriff's offices in the two counties say there are no reports of damage or injury.
Geologists say earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest that are felt by humans and that damage is not likely in quakes below magnitude 4.0.
