Jackson police investigate discovery of body in partially submerged car

JACKSON, Mississippi — Jackson police are investigating the discovery of a body in a partially submerged car near a mobile home park.

Police spokeswoman Colendula Green tells The Clarion-Ledger (http://on.thec-l.com/1I6ll3R) police got the call just before 1 p.m. Sunday.

Green says the body is that of an older black male, but it is badly decomposed, so an immediate identification is not possible.

Linde Aire mobile home park manager Richard Bonney tells the newspaper there's a place up the road that tends to flood when rains are heavy. Bonney said he thought it was possible that the vehicle had washed down the creek during the storms on Tuesday.

Green said it's too early to tell how long the body may have been in the water or if there are signs of foul play.
