Deneke leads thousands of runners to finish line of Philadelphia Marathon


PHILADELPHIA — Teklu Deneke led thousands of runners to the finish line in this year's Philadelphia Marathon.

Deneke of Ethiopia (currently living in Flagstaff, Arizona) finished the 26.2 mile course Sunday with a time of 2:17:44. He finished just 16 seconds ahead of Kenya native Abraham Rutto of Philadelphia.

Gisela Olaide Granados of Herminate, Tennessee was the first woman to finish with a time of 2:40:05.
