FLAGSTAFF, Arizona — Federal authorities say a sex offender wanted in Florida has been arrested in northern Arizona.

U.S. Marshals Service officials announced Monday that 52-year-old Kevin Leblanc was taken into custody while waking down Highway 66 in Flagstaff.

They say he was wanted on a federal court warrant out of Florida for a supervised release violation.

Authorities say Leblanc was charged in 1999 with five counts of rape of a child under 12 and one count of lascivious aggravated battery of a child under 12.

They say he has a previous escape from a county jail in New Hampshire and also was convicted in 2011 for failure to register under the Child Safety Protection Act of 2006.

U.S. Marshals officials say Leblanc will be extradited to Florida to face felony charges.
